Application Form

The application process for my music video will be extremely simple. Emails will be sent to various people who I know have already had some previous acting experience, as well as people who I believe who will be willing to act in my music video. I will post this application form on various social media platforms, including Snapchat, Instagram and Twitter. To ensure that many people view my music video application, it will also be posted to houses and local acting related businesses in and surrounding my area.

Media Pitch

I have written up my Media Music video Pitch in Blogger. For my Media Music Video I will be using the song 'Butterfly Effect' by Travis Scott. This song follows a Hip Hop / Trap genre, which is perfect for my age range and target audience. My age range for my music video is 17-25 and will be following a dark theme throughout, consisting of subtle slow-motion, wide angle and tracking shots. All shots will be filmed on an iPhone 7 in 1080p at 60 frames per second. It was an option to film in 4K at 30 frames per second, however I made the decision to film at 1080 due to the fact that the majority of mobile devices won't be able to handle 4K at the time of the making of this music video. Various car parks will be used, along with shots of a car and some shots in a supermarket and outside a take away restaurant.

statement of intent

Statement of intent – Hashim Shah I intend to create a music video which seamlessly goes hand in hand with my song of choice (Butterfly Effect by Travis Scott). I will be following a loose story-line however my video will be heavily focused on the cinematography itself, attempting to create similar themes which are used by other music videos in this genre, whilst aiming to entice the target audience of 17-25-year olds. To ensure this, I have chosen a dark theme which is similar to many music videos in this genre and has been proven to be a successful music video theme with my chosen demographic. In addition to this, the artist in my music video will be dressed in clothing which is familiar to them and that they may well wear regularly. I have also used brands such as ‘Supreme’ in my music video as it has shown to be a brand which is definitely favoured by my target audience. I have chosen to use quite natural lighting in my music video as I will be making it look as if the artists ...

Preliminary Task Risk Assessment

Preliminary Task Evaluation

Evaluation of Short Music Video – Hashim Shah In my music video, I have accidentally filmed one of my shots in portrait mode instead of landscape mode. The implications of this is that there are two black bars on either side of the video footage. I have edited the footage so that the black bars are filled with an enlarged duplicate of the enlarged video. This fills in the space of the black bars and makes the video more intuitive, as it gives the viewer more to look at. In the music video I have also got some flicker shots, which show a brief 0.1 second shot of the video in inverted colours. I could have made the flicker shorter and included more of them to make them stand out more. In addition to this, the flickers are aligned with certain beats in the song which make them stand out more. I filmed this particular music video on an iPhone 7 in 1080p at 30 frames per second. With the exception of the slow-motion shots, which were filmed in 720p at 240 frames per second. For ...

David Guetta ft Sia Music Video Analaysis

David Guetta Titanium ft Sia – Hashim Shah  In the beginning of the video there is a young boy in the centre with all of the things around him destroyed. We can assume that from the items surrounding him – books, papers, lockers. The shot moves out to reveal all the mess that the boy as supposedly caused. The next scene is the boy walking through a corridor which is also messy, due to surrounding objects having been also smashed. However, the camera doesn’t focus on the boy walking through a corridor, rather a woman in one of the passing rooms. As the boy turns around to look at her, she partly closes the door out of fear, and is on the phone to someone – appears as if she is calling for help/protection.  The next shot is of the boy cycling down the middle of a deserted road. The camera speeds up the boy riding on his bike, to create the illusion that he is being chased by somebody. During this scene of the music video, the camera jumps to different angles ...
