editing

Brief overview of filming:

I filmed my media music video in 1080p at 60 frames per second on an iPhone 7.

Editing Process:

As I filmed my music video on an apple phone, it would be incredibly easy for me to edit on an apple computer also. I transferred the array of video clips to my MacBook, and then dragged them into iMovie.

I then put all my clips on the timeline and began to trim away and take out clips that were unnecessary, e.g. scenes which I had filmed more than once to get the perfect take. After I took away the majority of the surplus clips - I then took away even more to get my video to approximately 2 minutes and thirty sections. I knew the requirement for the music video was 3 minutes, so therefore i factored in that my special effects, transitions and slow motion shots will add time in my video.

I next began to add in transitions in between scenes along with some slow motion and fast forward effects to some select shots.

Once this was done I added in the soundtrack to the timeline and synchronised it with the music video. I faded it out towards the end, and faded it in also. In the beginning of my video the song is playing through car speakers, and then is transitioned to play in the background of the song.

To add to the dark/black theme, I added a dark green effect to the whole of the video, which completely changed the whole effect of the video for the better. It reinforced the dark theme whilst also emphasising the light in my videos creating great contrast.

They hone in on her face and other faces of people that she might encounter on a day to day basis. At various stages through the music video, new people are introduced and are followed throughout the video. As the video starts the people look quite sad and are possibly in unprivileged circumstances. The camera angles are also directed towards their faces, with the intention of showing their glum facial expressions. Throughout the video whenever Emeli Sande appears in the video, she is miming the words to her song whilst sometimes using hand movements to express how she feels towards the song. As the video progresses, their facial expressions begin to lighten up, and the background’s become brighter. Previously, the backdrops to the people were of dark streets / street lamps / beds in the street. As the video progresses the, backdrops are...
